On Arrival: Trim 2 to 3 centimetres from each stem at a diagonal and place in a clean vase with fresh, cool water. Remove any foliage below the waterline.
Pollen: Oriental Lilies produce abundant yellow-orange pollen on their stamens, which can stain surfaces and fabric permanently. Remove the stamens with a tissue or cotton bud as soon as the blooms open, before the pollen is released. If pollen does land on fabric, allow it to dry completely and brush it away gently - do not rub it, as this will set the stain.
Water: Change the vase water every two days and re-trim the stems each time.
Position: Place in a cool, bright spot away from direct sunlight, heating vents and draughts. Oriental Lilies are sensitive to ethylene gas - keep well away from ripening fruit.
Pets: Oriental Lilies are highly toxic to cats. If cats are present in the household, please keep the arrangement completely out of their reach, or consider an alternative gift.
Longevity: Lilies typically arrive with buds not yet fully open - this is intentional. As each bud opens over the following days, the arrangement continues to evolve and impress. With proper care, your Oriental Lilies should remain beautiful for ten to fourteen days.
